Who Are We? The Farm Bureau of Ventura County is an independent, non-partisan organization comprised of members from not only the agriculture industry, but also from many non-agricultural industries and professions in Ventura County. The Bureau was founded in 1914 and is not affiliated with any government body. This is an important distinction to make. It allows the Farm Bureau to provide objective representation for the industry while remaining independent of the influence of any government entity. The Bureau is a member of California Farm Bureau Federation, a statewide organization of 53 member county Farm Bureau organizations covering 56 California counties. California Farm Bureau Federation is a member of American Farm Bureau Federation, a national organization of farmers and ranchers with member state organizations in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Programs Farm Bureau of Ventura County has a major focus on the Conditional Agricultural Waiver that deals with non-point source discharge runoff water from irrigated agricultural land. Almost 80,000 acres are represented within a group called the Ventura County Agricultural Irrigated Lands Group and comprises almost 1200 individual participants. This program covers all of the major watersheds within the county which are located predominately in the south half of the county. For a detailed list and maps of the VCAILG monitoring area click here.* Although the watershed issues are a major focus for the Farm Bureau, we are also involved in other water issues, land use, regulatory issues as well as the Ag Futures Alliance which is an organization that has been in place since 1999 representing all of the major stakeholders within the county that are focused on a sustainable agricultural industry in perpetuity in Ventura County. On a national scale, the local Farm Bureau is also very involved in the whole immigration issue attempting to provide a responsible way to supply the necessary labor for our industry and at the same time meeting the demands for increased Homeland security. Benefits Membership in the Farm Bureau of Ventura County provides benefits beyond the programs, information resources, issues representation and tasks dictated by our mission statement. Special publications for members include the Farm Bureau's monthly newsletter, the quarterly Central Coast Farm & Ranch magazine (published by the Bureau), state news publications (Ag Alert and California Country) and periodic news alerts. Insurance services, retail and services discounts, special rebates and access to "members only" industry information and research are but a few of those benefits. Theme park and other family entertainment discounts are also available only to FBVC members. A pdf file of the current discounts may be viewed and downloaded for printing by clicking here.* For more information about Farm Bureau of Ventura County benefits, please call or email our office. *Adobe Reader is required to view and print pdf files.
