What We Do

The Farm Bureau of Ventura County publishes or distributes a number of periodical publications specifically geared toward agriculture.

Living Legacy: The Story of Ventura County Agriculture

Living Legacy: The Story of Ventura County Agriculture is a coffee table book based on former journalist John Krist's award-winning series of stories in the Ventura County Star. Titled "Farming on the Edge" and published monthly in 2006, the newspaper series focused on the day-to-day practices of farming in coastal Southern California’s last great agricultural landscape.

Like the series, Living Legacy follows several agricultural operations through the seasons as it explores the historical, economic, cultural and political dimensions of farming in Ventura County. The 128-page book also features nearly 100 color photographs celebrating the richness and beauty of local farms and ranches. The book was published by Farm Bureau of Ventura County, with major support provided by the University of California Hansen Fund and other sponsors.
